Sam Trautwein is the CEO & Co-Founder of Carbon, a FinTech company that aims to make the global economy both more inclusive and efficient through the use of distributed ledger technology and artificial intelligence. Carbon’s investors include General Catalyst, Firstmark, Plug and Play, Digital Currency Group, and The Fund.
Sam grew up in the Dominican Republic and attended Stanford University, where he studied Computer Science with a concentration in AI. He has focused mainly on distributed systems, market design, and encryption. Prior to Carbon, he was a founding member of the Computer Science team at Plenty, an AI hydroponics company backed by Softbank.
